Will the real Indian team, please stand up?

OK. I am pissed now that Ganguly has been shown the door out of Test cricket in such a acrimonious method by the so called Indian Cricket Selectors. Much has been said about the impotent bunch of jokers we have had the helm of Cricket India, and much has been said about Mr. Politician Greg Chappell (Seriously I cant believe he is still around – he is the first person that deserves the boot badly from Indian cricket altogether! ). But what has really got me pissed off is the so called Indian Team itself, who don’t even want to speak a word for the very man who has groomed the team to the fighters they are today – not one? Not a single one? Wow – Indian team definitely is made of selfish money minded bastards and it shows and how – Yes, that includes Mr. clean image Rahul Dravid and Mr. God himself Sachin Tendulkar.

Back in 2000 when Ganguly helmed the reign of the Indian cricket team, lets remember that he took over when Indian cricket was at its lowest point, a point so low that the God himself couldn’t get it back to its feet. Ganguly and Wright helped to build a team – a real together; didn’t we have dissent and mud slinging – yes we did – but Ganguly stood by his players and it worked. It would be a good joke if we don’t recall how Ganguly has reacted over his support for Harbhajan, Yuvraj, Sehwag, and even Kaif, Pathan and Zaheer? Yet, where are they now? Not one – except for a while back with Harbhajan – has come in support for Ganguly? Ganguly and Dravid are supposed to be good friends off the field, and yet not one word from him? Do they fear the BCCI THAT much? After all that they have achieved in cricket, they are still shit scared of the big boss that they can’t speak.

…And yet, don’t be surprised if 5 years after they retire, the same Dravid, the same Tendulkar will hone the commentator’s cap and crib how Indian selectors are not doing their job – and how they don’t seem to have any logic or reasoning behind dropping players; The same people will write about negative vibes in the team 5 years before; the same people will then offer to air their “expert” views on issues affecting the team; why, some of them may even write a book about it, and again start the Ganguly tirade.

Ganguly himself has become a media scapegoat – trash reporters @ rediff and Times of India cried to no end to put Ganguly out of the team; why TOI started a send-hate-mail to Ganguly campaign and the Indian public was up in arms against him. Now, that he has been dropped again from Test Cricket, the same trashy publications are viewing their sympathetic ears towards Ganguly – Indian media is one big hypocrite, and its about time they stopped using Ganguly as a puppet to figment their sensationalist stories, and treat Ganguly as a human. Enough!

The list should include nincompoops like Sunil Gavaskar, Harsha Bhogle and others to stop cribbing, whining and complaining about Indian team, and more specifically Ganguly – for they are nothing but a bunch of people on a ego trip trying to settle scores through media. Where is Sunil Gavaskar and his column when Ganguly is dropped out of Test team? No – but he won’t speak for him will he? Should we really expect him to?

I feel sorry for Sourav Ganguly today that when he needed the support of his team the most, they have deserted him in lure of money and playing for their “country”. I feel sorry that Sourav Ganguly took the guts to stand up against a legion of mudslingers and built the “Team India” everyone is so proud of – he would have better off playing for himself.

What a bunch of jokers Team India are – shame on them.

Well, this was expected isn’t it. None of the players stood up when BCCI declared that it was a private entity and did not represent India – the bastards cared only for money – the same mr. Tendulkar and mr. Dravid who harp on representing India, couldn’t even stand up and say that they wanted to represent India when the government decided to forbid using tri colors on team’s shirt.

Even Karthikeyan had an objection and an opinion about Tri colors– but our team? Ha ha! And we expect them to support Ganguly.

Will the real Indian team, please stand up?

I think you echoed my sentiments exactly. What a spineless bunch of cricketers the Indian team is, man? Not a single person would stand up against this humiliation.

Basking in glory because they are beating an out of form Sri Lankan team.I’m just waiting for a better team to come along and see how their expressions on their faces change. And also, oprions of the “so called” media!

    BCCI should be disbanded. Seriously!

Hey man you seem to be really upset.. But 3 things. Noone should be interfereing into selection processes(not pawar, not dalmiya, not politician and not cricketers). If we don’t like selectors they should be changed but they should have final decision on selection matters. second past glory is not a guarantee for future results. And third life is never fair. Enjoy and cool down man…

    Hey Suyog,

Superb post! I second you completly! I think Dada was brought back in the test team just so that he could be dropped again and humilated.

One man who really deserves to get his ass spanked is the moron Kiran More. He isn’t even a finger nail of Dada and is trying to act as if he has been an all time great player, and can play with Ganguly’s career at his own free will!

Shame on Dravid! Bloody power hungry politician!

Shame on Sachin! A guy who plays just for his personal records!

when the same question was asked to Kapil da few days back he said that we have no evidence that no correspondence has taken place between saurav and the other players. fair enough. i don’t expect the other team members to go public with the disagreement over the decision to drop saurav. atleast the journalists were witness to the fact that nobody went to saurav’s room for around 2 hours when his sacking was announced by the selectors – journalists were around his room at that time. he left for kolkata after that. if someone spoke to him after he left, then we never know. but it was indeed a poor sight to see saurav standing alone after taking a catch and nobody directly joining him in the celebrations even after saurav showed every indication to be a part of the team by helping dravid place the field setting and give some pep talk to the pace bowlers. greg accused him for not sharing any jokes in the dressing room and hence creating rifts in the team, but i thought it was saurav who needed attention from others mopre than what he could give to the others – it was he who was waging a battle against his fortunes.

Thanks a lot everyone for your comments!!!

@jedi – Yeah, we think alike – all jedi’s think alike – oops.. what did I just say :P

    @Nirwa – Flower Vase? ROFL – LMAO

@Greatbong – thankews and thankews – you wrote a brilliant piece on saurav yourself!

@Sudhir – Yeah I am upset because of the callous attitude of selectors. Yes, past performance cannot guarantee future selections, but then how does one justify inclusion of Jaffer over Ganguly. Or for that matter, there is little to choose from Gambhir and Ganguly (gambhir hasnt been having a starling time either!!)

@Harampreet – you are dead right – office politics – thats all it is.

@Tanmay @ tanmay – Good to see you here man – are you the same tanmay I know :P . I wish i could strangle kiran more right now.

@Tabrez – I agree abt Kapil Dev – he was meted out the same treatment; thankfully the media has blown since then – and we now get to hear more details.

Thanks fellas – keep ‘em coming

Ganguly is not worth playing in the Indian team in present form. If he wants to play he should perform in Ranji trophy and come back. There is no reason for selectors to keep him when he is not performing well.

Your article on KANK was really good. But looks like you are a BIG Sourav fan. So you couldn’t do justice to this one. No hard feelings please.

I have nothing against Sourav but he made some mistakes and he was punished. Unfortunately, no one remembers the good things he’s done and they are writing him off. They should atleast give him a couple of chances to prove himself, atleast as a batsman.

    Hard luck dude!

Surprisingly, I am only reading this post now.

Too late to comment but unlike most others, I am STILL hopeful Ganguly makes a comeback because everytime I see India shit scared against Australia, I remember that the only person probably EVER to stand up against Australia and show them their worth was Ganguly.

LAst week, in the tri-series in Malaysia, India scored a huge total against West Indies but lost on Duckworth-Lewis. Tendulkar’s first match after a long way away from the game and he scored a blazing 141.

Second match against Australia. Tendulkar out early and India 35/5. Rain came and wiped Team India’s ass of all the muck.

    Sheesh…spineless buggers.
