Weekly roundup, introducing Karan and more….

12/02/2006

Its been an interesting week, this one. This week there are no news update as nothing of interest happened in my galaxy; I was hoping that something would pique my mind, but sadly the mundane world didn’t bend – instead all I heard was shopkeepers in Gaza had ordered double supply for Danish flags as it was in demand; on the other side of the world, MoFo Hussy painted mother India nude and got himself into tangles – its about time this guy is retired with 72 virgins and once and for all shut up. Unfortunately for you people, who have come to get enlightened by me this week, alas, will have to do with my bunkum.

All right, as the title of this post suggest, I am introducing a fellow writer, blogger and friend of mine whom I’ve known since dogs years (OK, not that many, but few). He goes by the name of Karan, and is an excellent writer, who at times can give even Queen of England running helter to find her dictionary. He’s been blogging for a while now, but I convinced him to move to wordpress, and I am hopeful that keeps posting his wonderful stuff, especially his critiques on movies and books. Please do check his excellent writings out at http://karana23.wordpress.com – you won’t regret it.

Ok, after this publicity stunt for Karan, I must admit I was bribed to advertise his blog shamelessly.

What else? I have got to stop eating from that Seven Seas Chinese restaurant – the food is awfully good and pathetically addictive. Not good. Not good. I also changed my website template as you can see, and I am pretty much pleased with the results. I intend to work on the theme in the coming weeks and see where it goes.

Mmmh… Yes, I went to Indian store, where I heard two Gujju oldies asking the bewildered shopkeeper – “Beedee hain?” Sadly for the oldie, shopkeeper didn’t have any – hence he declared – “Nakammu desh che!” (America is useless!) – and then said – “Mane Aa molbolo polbolo nathi bhave!” (This Malboro-Palboro doesn’t suit me!). Of course old man, you having lived your life like a miser on Beedee can’t think of anything better can you?

I made some important decisions this week, which unfortunately I am not going to tell you. Move ahead he-he.

On Friday, I and my friends went bowling – I finally scored decent figures, though still was third. Then we watched the match, and thankfully India won to justify my lack of sleep! On Saturday it SNOWED!! Finally. It was about time that “real” winter set into this place, and it snowed more than 12 inches in our area.

To celebrate snow, we decided to cozy up at home and play board games like kids. We first tried to play Lord of the Rings, The Battle of Moria Board game. The freaking game is so complicated and so insanely bizarre, that by the time the evil guys had killed of Aragon and were about to attack that nitwit Frodo, we decided to stop ourselves from being hammered by such hopelessness. Advice to you: never ever pick up that game unless you want to torture someone.

We switched over to more simpler game called “Life” in which you play out your err “Life”. So we went to college, got married, bought a house, changed careers, had a mid life crisis, took insurance and basically did all the mundane things there are to eventually retire rich. I won with 1.6 million dollars in the end – unfortunately, this happens only on board games; I so wish it happened in real life too, and much sooner.

Sunday, we went to lasertag. If you don’t know what laser tag is, then I will tell you: You wear armor with laser guns and act like commandoes; then you start shooting people with those guns and collect points. We were 6 adults and around 20 children playing around – I reluctantly joined the game, but it was great fun!!

We also got to choose our alias for our names to make it more interesting. Some of the names my friends picked were Maximus, Tombraider, Maverick, Top Ace and such. One kid named himself Terminator, while another named himself Executor, and more interesting names like Agent 005, CookieMonster, Zaki-the-Paki and such…

Mmh, other than that the week was pretty much normal. Sigh. Till next time, see ya around!

And oh, I named myself -Mogambo… err…ummm. They didn’t let me have the punch line.

LOL… No I just couldn’t have a better launch into this blogosphere. Okay, I pronounce you my official Godfather in this complicated techie world.

Its really a shame I am neck deep in exams but I hope to update it with more of everyday ramblings besides reviews. Can’t thank you enough for the publicity LOL

Interesting post. You still play Life? Man.. just reading about it made me all nostalgic. I used to play it for hours and hours with cousins and frens. And even when everyone got bored and moved to other games, I’d keep playing it alone, placing bets on which car (person) would reach the end first. The cutest thing was those stubs you had to place on your car to denote number of children LOL

    Keep them coming!
