In my previous post I was dabbling between Flickr and Smugmug. After Mark’s responses and my own playing around with Smugmug, I have made up my mind to move to Smugmug.
Agreed, there are some kinks around the corner, but being a startup I am convinced that Smugmug will evolve way faster. Their CSS is a bit difficult to implement, but once I got a hold of it, I was able get around. I will be updating my site more and managing photos there.
For a start, head to suyog and anu photography website, which is hosted off Smugmug. With some basic CSS customization I was able to get it to state it is in. In future weeks it will be sufficiently modified to suit my needs.
Smugmug offered me exactly what I was looking for since a while. It just took some digging around the site to find it. While I still love flickr for its community and all, I think Smugmug will serve my purpose better!
Smugmug, here we come.
Check out Adobe Photoshop Express. Its amazingly cooler.
I’ve just got a little test album on there http://peacewithguns.photoshop.com
Check it out and let me know what you think (of the site AND my photos).
Definitely impressive if you want a customized domain for your galleries but slightly expensive for me right now at $60. Instead you could install a WordPress Photoblog theme on a relatively high-bandwidth hosting account and still achieve the same results, right?
@Patrix: Yes, I could use wordpress, but smugmug makes a lot of stuff like albums and galleries very easy. I find those plugins / settings average at best in wordpress. You can get 50% off on the power account by using “flickr” as a discount coupon. Of course that would still mean 60 bucks next year, but I am willing to bet they will lower their prices next year. So right now I paid nearly the same as Flickr (30 bucks) for even greater functionality.
Cheers
